This park was created to honor General Jaewoo Gwak, who fought to protect Korea during the Japanese invasion in 1592. The name of the park derives from his self-given name of Mangwoodang(忘憂堂). There is a statue of Jae-woo Gwak inside the park, and a memorial hall holding his possessions near the statue.
