This memorial honors the reconstruction of the Daegu fortifications after their destruction during the Japanese invasion of 1592. According to the text on the memorial, the castle had many supplies for protecting the castle. The stone fortifications were rebuilt over a 6-month period and used nearly 80,000 workers. The fortifications were worn down in 1906, and the memorial was moved to its present location in 1980 after being preserved in Hyanggyo.
